Spindles of Lace

An old wicker basket full of antique wooden spindles (used in the process of cloth weaving in the past) now in use to display a collection of various types of lace edgings. There are many types of lace in the basket. Some are examples of fine handmade needle or appliqué lace, and others are pieces of torchon or machine-made lace. The basket sits on a lovely old piece of patchwork.

Photographed by Ann in England and printed in Japan.
